Helpme, you don't have to go to a hospital again. I just think of it as a place you're in right now, knowing you should cut down the benzo use. The problem is that you aren't getting any respite from the nightmares, etc.-I have panic disorder and so I get early-morning severe nightmares when the PD comes to call every couple years. I had a pdoc that used to say, "why don't you just get up for the day, then?"-some docs seem to be content to leave theri patients in extreme discomfort, and I don't know why. I'd try once more with your current doc, being very straight, "Dr. XX, I've mentioned before that I was tempted to take more Klonopin...and I have. I take 10 mg's a day, and I know that's too much-but it has been the only way I can get out the emotional pain I'm in now. I need your help, but I'm not willing to go to a hospital for the reasons I discussed with you before. That's just not negociable. I want to try a slow taper-which has worked for me before-but I'll need your help. If you don't want to be of help, I'd appreciate your recommendation for a different doctor".
Don't take any med that doesn't work for you. You need to cut down on a med, that's the story -and it is a simple and common one. I wouldn't take suppliments or anything else until you've tapered the Klonopin down, personally. Try to make it as simple as possible.
