I've had permanent or semi-permanent changes in my response to meds from interaction with other meds. I was on Serzone years ago, worked well for me for several years but eventually started to poop out. Changed to Wellbutrin, but kept some Serzone around to help me sleep. Alas, instead it gave me extreme anxiety, whereas previously it had been sedating. It seemed to be a serotonin effect, which I thought was weird at the time, since Wellbutrin doesn't affect serotonindirectly at any rate.
I actually had serotonin syndrome one night I believe agitation, confusion, fever. I posted again & again here to try & stay sane until someone else came online at 6 AM & reassured me!
From then on, couldn't take Serzone, the anxiety effect appeared to be permanent, or at least long-term, even if I was off the Wellbutrin for a while. Maybe liver enzyme changes? Or change in nerve-cell membranes??
