Considering your family history of bipolar disorder, it might be worth exploring the possibility that your mood illness lies along the "bipolar spectrum". Not all doctors agree with this, but I believe that depression in the absence of a manic episode can still have a bipolar diathesis (genetic and epigenetic). In these cases, it might be productive to consider your condition as being bipolar depression. Have you tried Lamictal or Abiify?
