It depends on the medication, country, and state. My prescriptions for Adderall ( a Schedule II amphetamine) have to be filled within a week (in Texas, at least). I think that some states (especially NY) have more restrictive rules for benzodiazepines (like Klonopin) than others.
It's best to ask your doctor or pharmacist to be sure.
