I have taken Lamictal for about 2 years, now taking 300mg/day, all in the morning.
I've had headache problems since my 20's, and gave up on solving them. Every time I asked a doctor they said, "well with all the meds you're taking, who can tell?". Not v. helpful.
Then my new primary practitioner sent me to a headache specialist. She said, first cut out caffeine. I only drank one cup of coffee in the morning and maybe a cup of black tea in the afternoon, which didn't seem like much. But I stopped, and about 80% of my headaches went away- the dull, awful, non-stop head tension ones. I started paying attention. One day I popped a sugar-free mint into my mouth and within 10 min had a horrible shooting headache that lasted hours. Now I don't go near aspartamine. Every once in awhile I can get away with a cup of coffee or tea, but most of the time even a cup of decaf will do me in for the rest of the day.
Good luck,
Cece
