For now a benzo like atavin so you can be a peace now and try an antidepressant (AD) which will take a few weeks to reach full effect. If an AD works you will need none or less benzo. As to which AD that is really a guessing game. The more sedating ones might be one way to go. Your doc will know doubt have his/her favs. At first it makes sence to go with what the doc is used to as they have seen lots of people on this med(s) Anxiety disorder can sometimes be controled by AD alone. Buspar was mentioned and if that or an AD does not control it then benzos are an option. An AD will treat the anxiety and underlying depression; the 2 often come together or mask each other.
