I posted this on writing, but maybe you guys can help.
I'm looking for suggestions.
I have a short story that is essentially about a woman who has come to terms with her own csa, who finds she is attracted to a man she suspects of doing the same to his own daughter, but is not sure. The story is about a date they have and how it all turns out so horribly wrong.
Where would I try to sell this? If you look in Writer's Market, there certainly isn't a category for this! I asked a friend, who has published at least 12 murder mysteries and he said--are you ready for this--maybe Romance. Guy didn't get it at all.
Any suggestions? I know it's not an easy subject.

p.s. I'd like to get paid for it!

I think you want to hit the "older" women's market. Magazine's like Oprah, Next, Women' Day, Redbook, etc. They often publish fiction that has some edge to it. And it certainly sounds like it does! But it is a sophisticated topic so you need a more or less educated audience.
I think Bantum publishes this kind of writing, but I don't know about a short story. I'll keep thinking about it. Good luck.
