My appointment yesterday was very peaceful. He didn't quite put me in a trance but he came close a few times. We'll try again next week. I learned some great relaxing techniques that I was able to repeat at home.
THe joke will be that he won't be able to put me under. I'm holding on too tight;I'venever been able to let go. I'll just bet this is what is going to happen.

Hi,
I think I am in pretty much the same boat as you are, with essentially the same attitude and expectations. I have been considering hypnosis since a random conversation produced a random proclamation of "I don't know if it was that time or a different time", which was very upsetting to me, I have always believed it was only the one time and have absolutely no idea where that came from. I only have fragments of memory, enough to know without any doubt it happened, but not a single shard of details, how long, where, putting my clothes back on, etc.
Anyway, I don't think I'm necessarily able to let go either, meditation is very difficult for me, do you have any idea what you will try if that turns out to be the case? And, is there someone else there with you? You may have talked about that already, I'm sorry if I'm repeating. I'd like someone to be there with me other than hypnoT, my husband maybe. How did you find your hypnoT? I don't even know where to begin.
Thanks,

No, I go alone. I prefer it that way. If I ever do get hypnotized, I might change my mind on that. My husband did offer to come, though, which is nice, considering he hates everything and anything to do with my "issues".
My T did the research for me and picked the guy based on her own criteria (not sure what), but I trust her. Maybe you could ask your regular doc for a referral? I know my pdoc wouldn't have anything to do with this--and doesn't.
How long have you been in therapy? It's a shock when you discover new things, and I'm sorry you have to go through that.
I don't know what I'll do next if this doesn't help. I really don't. I hate to sound depressing, but I'm not sure how much longer I could go on like this.
I hate that anyone has to go through this.
