I am going to terminate with my current T next week. Any ideas for good parting gifts?? I don't think she would accept anything expensive. It cannot be of any value - she has very strict rules.. What would be good - not expensive but at the same time nice??
Something I am thinking of is paint a coffee mug for her myself - She drink Starbucks everytime. There is a pottery shop here to which I go and I can paint, and they will glaze it and give it to me..

A friend of mine did the same thing with her T. - painted a mug (very pretty) and the pottery shop and gave it to her T.
Ironically, I had the same T. at the time and saw the mug at every session...it was displayed in a prominent part of the T.'s office. Really nice, I thought.

Pinkeye,
I love your idea. It is personal and warm without making her feel like you are crossing any boundaries. I also think that she would appreciate a nice card in which you share what about your time with her has been helpful. It sounds like you are in a pretty good place w/ this termination if you are able to think about something like this.
Best,
EE

Hi,
I think that's a good idea--i think anything made by you has a special value...
the gifts i gave to my T that she most appreciated were the ones that I made myself: a drawing, a box to put teabags that i painted for her- a handwritten card with a drawing i made- things like that. the last i gave to her was the box to put teabags and she truly liked it :-) because i had made it myself and it took me a long time to finish and it is with love and it shows..
oh and another thing was cookies i baked for her :-) and a video! with things that are meaningful to me- my cats, fish, home. She loved all these.i think your idea is a great one, it's warm and sweet...anything made by you would be perfect!
lots of support
Frida

I think I will stick with my idea of painting something for her.. I am not a good painter, but I think that is not the point anyway.
Emily - I liked your idea of Card also.. She has really been the best with me, and has really helped me. And I don't feel bad at all about terminating. I will miss her, but I won't be devastated.
