it's really needed, when we learn the most we're messy. We're not nice, we're not easy to get along with, we're easily offended, easily hurt, quick to blame and slow to accept. And it's messy, all of it, it's not pretty, and a therapist has to be really able to cope with that. Hats off to the therapists out there who know acceptance, how to give that, how to guide their clients, how to respect them when they're at their worst, and know the art of fearlessly knowing themselves ... I think I've pretty much described an almost perfect person. Hmh.

I think the key is the respect you mentioned. It takes someone really special to respect us when we're not at our best. I think the best therapists believe in the inherent worth of their clients, without putting more pressure on us than we put on ourselves.

what you have said is true. But it takes everything out of a therapist to be there when the clients become too messy.
