I would like to hear from people who were told that the symptoms they had were psychosomatic and that it turned out later they were really ill with whatever. I was told for eleven years that nothing was wrong with me until it turned out to be intersistial cystitis.

In reply to psychosomatic ailments that turned out to be true, posted by dawnfawn on December 21, 2004, at 20:40:36
my mother always told me my father was a hypocondriac...that is until the cancer killed him.
i believed for twenty years that my stomach aches were in my head because an early barium showed nothing. A few years ago i finally had another one done and it turns out i had 40 gallstones. I was so relieved to find out i wasn't imagining the whole thing it almost made the 20 years of agonizing gallstone attacks bearable.
This is the end of the thread.
