After being told I have a Clinical Depression(which came out of nowhere it seems), my doctor gave me Effexor XR. Will be taking the lowest dosage for one week , then upping it to 75. I have still been feeling extremely anxious, and have had to resort to Xanax every 4 hours. My worst demon is the anxiety and resulting physical effects of it. Will Effexor handle this, and how long should I expect to take it before I notice it helping? I'm exhausted from feeling sick and not wanting to look at food(which I normally love to cook and eat.)

In reply to effexor xr - new to me, a bit nervous about using, posted by srobbie on May 20, 2005, at 17:33:52
Hi srobbie,
Welcome to Babble. I have not taken Effexor, but there are a ton of folks here who have. You might try posting on the meds board or browsing the archives there about effexor. I know there have been lots of posts about it, with a wide variety of experiences with the med.Good luck to you, and again, Welcome!

Hi srobbie,
The biggest problem with Effexor is how you feel when you go off of it...beware; you will feel nauseous, dizzy, cold/hot,, you'll throw up...kinda like you have the flu but 10x worse. I gained a lot of weight while on Effexor...which makes me more depressed.
But...everyone is different, so maybe your experience will be positive...just be really carefull, ask you Dr lots of questions..it is powerfull stuff
This is the end of the thread.
