the bestest 10 list ever!!!!

Posted by karen_kay on January 16, 2008, at 10:40:27

10. a wonderufl new place, in a pretty cool town. i really think i'm going to like this city and my life here. moving was a difficult experience for me, because mister kk has been working outrageous hours. so the packing was left to me. a year and a half's worth of crap is hard to sort and pack, but we got most of it done now and we're pretty much settled in. duck seems to like the new place and that makes me very happy!!!

9. a wonderful little (ha! he's a giant!!!) boy. he's certainly ready for potty training, since he tries to change his own diaper, is able to throw his diaper away, and he really wants to be a big boy. this kid is AMAZING!!!!! he sits at the table with us now for meals, puts his plate in the sink (ok, and ours too! what good is having a kid if you can't get them to do stuff for you?) he knows what his eye is now and often pokes other people's eyes out trying to show them where their eyes are. he tries to help me make my coffee (grabs the sugar container and the spoon!), gets his own shoes out when we're going somewhere. it seems he does somethign new and amazing everyday!!!!!!

8. a wonderful husband, who works very hard for his family (that would be me and the duck). we keep in contact via email all day long and i send him pics of the boy and me. i'm very lucky to have found someone so great and who treats me the way i should be treated (like a queen of course!). a decision while manic turned out to be the best thign that ever happened to me!!!

7. a kick *ss digital camera that i got for christmas! it's even pink, jsut like i wanted! now i have the ability to take all sorts of pictures (HEY! i mean of my son, not dirty, YET :) in a flash. and the duck is a total ham for the camera! i love that!

6. a quiet house, with no drama, roomates, strange men coming and going (oh wait, i kinda liked that!!), and did i mention quiet? other than the duck fussing, it's so serene and peaceful!! i feel so much more relaxed here, without the tension of living with other people, other people's stress and drama, and visitors who come for dinner and then leave!

5. my first dinner guests in my new place!!! my sister came over and made a butterscotch pie from scratch, with merange (you know, that sugary white stuff on top of pies!). her girls came over and the duck fought them (hair pulling for a nearly 2 year old is normal, right??), but they had a great time! i did too.

4. a boy who stands in the corner for punishment :) he saw my niece doing it, and learned from that, smart boy! but, now he has to stand in the corner when he does somethign wrong. it's amazing to me that he's able to comprehend standing in the corner and does it until we tell him to get out of the corner.

3. a closet in duck's room with a lock on the outside. why would someone do that, put a lock on the outside of a closet? hmmmm..... it's kinda funny that duck's room is the only one with a lock on the closet!

2. i talked to my homeless friend yesterday. she seems to be doing really well at the shelter. she's turned in several job apps and is currently in good spirits, even though she's going through paxil withdrawl and doesn't want to ask the manager of the shelter to take her to get more. they even bought her tobacco and taught her how to roll her own smokes!

1. babble, coffee, a new place, a wonderful family, friends who help people move (those really are true friends!!!), the internet, cable tv, johnny cash playign in the background, a sexy new shirt (ok, i wear it as a shirt, but i don't know if that's a no no or not) from victoria's secret, bushy eyebrows because i can't find where i packed the tweezers, shoes, shoes, shoes!!!, humor, the best boy in the whole world (do not argue with me on that one!! :), a house that smells good like fresh linen, telephone lines, this beautiful day today (even though its supposed to be cold tomorrow), a garage that isn't so full of crap we can actually park in it, living in a town with a SUPERWALMART (hey, you cna get ANYTHING there!!! convience is a must!!), being able to see my husband 30 minutes sooner after work, wonderful curls on duck's head (even though we hear it all the time "cut that boy's hair!!!" and 'such a cute girl', it's still worth it for me to see those curls everyday!), did i mention coffee?, klonopin!!!!!, my inlaws not knowing my new number (i'm horrible, but mister kk didn't give it to them, so i'm not going to either!), note pads that hang on the fridge and remind me what i have to do today, 2 slices of butterscotch pie sitting in the kitchen, blueberry poptarts without frosting, birth control (hey, one duck's enough!!! i'd go freakin nuts if i had another one!!!), a wonderful family, and finally getting moved in, even though i'm still picking my clothes out of laundry baskets :)

who's next?

10 Seeing someone else's inspiring list of 10 to jumpstart my own - I can do it!

9 Knowing that the place I volunteer at relies on me to be there every week and appreciates my time and abilities.

8 Feeling prepared for my business' debut coming up at the end of this month - by gum, we're going to have fun!

7 Having a yoga studio that feels like a real place of refuge and bliss.

6 Having friends to help me ride through the lows and just bear with the inevitable down times.

5 Emails, babble and sometimes chat, if I'm feeling brave.

4 Reminding myself that my intuition can be trusted.

3 lists, lists, lists

2 Having permed hair means never having to have another bad hair day!

1 Hearing my husband say, "how did you whip that together?" when I'm actually able to whip something together in the kitchen.

that's a great list! ยป ClearSkies

i whipped together dinner last night, last minute, for my sister, her boyfriend, and her 2 kids (not to mention myself, mister kk and duckie)!!! oh, and extra for mister kk's dinner and a plate for my mother as well!!! wowsa!!!! it's a chore!

but, it's great to be able to make dinner for 3 now instead of 5+!!! that's another thing to add to my list!

11. making dinner for 3, instead of a crapload of people living in my house!
