making plans to get back in school.
am able to as soon as spring semester, but not pushing myself that hard (did i use pushing and hard in the same phrase and not in a dirty way? wowsa!!!).
will be returning summer or fall, depending on how motivated i am on finding credit transfer rates v/s price ranges v/s good schools in area.
will be planning on being a professional student the rest of my life. 1 degree down, 1 to finish, 1 more to plan on starting....
YAHOO!!!!
that's a great self esteem boost!!!

I tried on my "skinny" shorts today, only to find they're now my "fat" shorts!!
That's all I've got, but I thought it was pretty darn good!

it isn't easy to self advocate at times. curerntly there are good days and not so good days. financially things are stressful as usual and tighter than usual until details are worked out. until then the basics (food, shelter) are covered but the rest gets a bit scary.
getting to the self esteem part...
today while running errands discovered that there wasn't enough money for both food shopping for a special dinner for bro and necessities for survival. arrived at one store where we've shopped for almost decade. asked the owner if arrangements could be made for the rest of this month until funds are avail. beginning of next month. owner teared up and said 'think nothing of it, you won't be paying for anything as this is a gift. no repayment necessary. don't even worry about the new year or first couple months.'
*jaw agape in stunned gratitude* wow. ask and ye shall receive!
was proud of the ability to get past stubborn pride and feelings of inadequacy to approach owner and ask for help.
it wasn't easy to ask. it was scary. great practice for asking directly to get one's needs met.
that the response was so generous and kind was a gentle hug to this frazzled soul.

How wonderful that you were able to ask for help, and how lovely that the shop manager went beyond your expectations in understanding and compassion. People may deride the commercialism of this time of year, but it can also bring out the best qualities in the human race, when we least expect it to.
Good for you for being brave!
