Hello!
Every night, without fail, I wake up after about four hours of sleep wide awake. Most of the time I can return to sleep in an hour or so. Sometimes not. Here's what I'm taking. Any ideas?Morning:
Fish oil
Borage oil
Empower Plus capsule
B vitamin
1/2 NAC tabletNight:
1/2 melatonin
magnesium taurate capsule
sometimes GABA or benadryl

At a guess it might be the Melatonin, supplemental Melatonin has a short half life of a few hours, once it wears off you can wake up.

The article also mentions behavioural reinforcement, there's a few online Insomnia C.B.T. courses now which are inexpensive or free.
Alcohol can and does disrupt sleep, if you drink alcohol stop drinking well before you go to sleep.

Me too, I could set my clock to it.
Every day I have a new theory about it. Polyphenols, fish oil, B vitamins.
No idea, I'm afraid.

Like there is some drug at work, enogenous, exogenous, I dunno, but I can feel myself being dragged out of deep sleep.

Cortisol could well be the culprit, the levels of Cortisol change throughout the day, lower when you sleep and higher when you wake up. Cortisol can keep you awake and definitely wake you up. 24hr Cortisol saliva tests may give you an indication of what's happening, also an adrenal function test could shed some light on things. I doubt any conventional doctor would do these tests, an alternative practitioner or even better a functional medicine practitioner could well help if this is very troublesome for you.

Btw I'm not a massive fan of home testing, you should really get tested whilst under the supervision and advice of a qualified practitioner.

I have the same problem.
The previous night, in addition to my Doxepin, I took a ZMA Capsule (mag, zinc and B6) and 1/2 tsp nutmeg before going to bed. When I woke up after 4 hours, I took ZMA, Calcium and 1/2 tsp nutmeg. Got back to sleep and felt very rested.
Tried the same regimen last night and while I slept, I don't feel completely rested. But I took an extra multivitamin which I feel was the culprit.
Anyway, if this works long term, I will post. My concern is taking nutmeg long term. While apparently high doses are bad, it still freaks me out since I am so sensitive to everything.
