Nicotinic Acid may (rarely) cause Muscle Cramps when supplemented at dosages above 100 mg per day.
Nicotinic Acid may (rarely) cause Headaches when supplemented at dosages above 100 mg per day.
Inositol Hexanicotinate is regarded as the safest form of supplemental Nicotinic Acid and can be safely used in doses of up to 4,000 mg per day.
Niacin (Nicotinic Acid) is used up to 4 grams a day, however this is a large dose. I'd say 100mg won't give you any significant problems, but as always use caution.

Why would you like to take high doses of niacin?
If you believe that you have problems activating niacin it would be better/safer to try pyridoxal-5-phosphate (active B6) in a RDA dose 1-2 mg.

If you suffer from insomnia/anxiety you should first of all avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate)
No more 85% chocolate bars ;-)

The 85% chocolate bars are only for special occasions. Surprisinly, they seem have little/no effect on wheather I sleep or not, as long as it is taken in the morning.
Regardless of cocoa use, niacin has been a usefull suplement.
