it might just be a philosophy convention. to put words in '' and ideas in small caps. so, there are 5 letters in 'water' and no letters in WATER or water. WATER isn't watery but water is... whatever... water isn't even H20... sometimes... H3O+ and OH-... 10x-23 of it... or whatever... given that it is that... is it that necessarily? on all possible worlds?
i suspect it's all a load of rubbish, really.
but still, one should probably say 'hi'.
