Interesting auto-asterisking problem

Posted by Ronnjee on January 22, 2014, at 15:32:53

In the psychology board, I posted a URL to a good article in Alternet, but since the URL contains a dirty word, it gets auto-asterisked into a 404 Not Found.

Ideas, Bob?

...replied on Admin since this is not about psychology...

So, you think he might experience wrath if you choose to not turn on one of PB's settings that he himself made optional? That would be strange, but I understand.

You could also edit out the asterisks before posting, right? Or, better yet, if you don't want the naughty word visible on PB, change it using TinyUrl (http://tinyurl.com/)

which changes it to:

http://tinyurl.com/mwt9skw

Is it that you're wondering if he thinks it breaks the rules to include the word b*llsh*t in the site's own link - period?

If the latter, I have no comment. I have no idea at all how, when, or if he will apply rules currently.

Maybe he will answer on Admin.

I honestly have no fear; I was pointing out an anomoly regarding this civility/dirty word thing, and simply trying to post a link.

Suggest to that site that they offer alternative URLs that don't contain language that could offend others? :-)
