"I appreciate people who are civil, whether they mean it or not. I think: Be civil. Do not cherish your opinion over my feelings. There's a vanity to candor that isn't really worth it. Be kind."

I think it's an awesome quote....!
But I wonder....would it be considered entirely civil here?
You know, characterizing people who are candid as "vane?" Perhaps that's a potential put down......
I love irony.
...or perhaps, I am really turning into a nit-picker with paranoid tendencies who sees possible violations everywhere....!!!!
arggghh!!

I like the quote because I have thought before...
why can't I say it if it's true?
and ok.... so it's not a "fact", but it's my opinion so why can't I say it?but there are millions of times when it's all about the "why?" of "Why do I want to say it?" and who is it about really?
how complicated these social interactions can be..

so, so true....exhausting sometimes, even. But worth it...in the long run, IMO :-)PS - hope it didn't seem like I was *actually* putting doen the quote you found...or dismissing it or something. I really do think it's so appropriate for DB and Babble. gosh, I am paranoid about being misunderstood lately....and I suppose this has strayed away from being Admin....oops..
