Dr. B what is the process for change?

Posted by Jai Narayan on March 16, 2004, at 9:39:59

How does change happen on SB?
Do people weigh in on an issue and then Dr. B decides to change something or not?
Do rules stay the same no matter what?
Where are the rules for change? Are they posted?
What if I rebutted this or any issue and presented a compelling case....would something change?

*Thanks Pat, I have been feeling really alone on this board. Your support and response has been so sweet. I will not forget your support.

Jai - Remember that just because people have a differing opinion on a particular topic that does not mean that they stand apart from you, leaving you to stand alone. It's just one issue among 10's of 1,000's we discuss here. This one issue doesn't divide people into opposing camps my dear friend! Lots of people are here with you on Babbleland! :-)

Jai, If you spend some time reading the archives of Admin you'll get a feel for it. There's no real procedure for change. Dr. Bob will get ideas and start topics here for people to weigh in, or posters will start topics. It seems like Dr. Bob is more open to new ideas, like new boards, than to changing existing features and rules. In particular, advocating for looser civility standards doesn't seem to have any effect. It seems like the rules are always moving toward more safety for readers rather than more freedom for posters.
