Lou's block time to Bob and » noa

Posted by Oddipus Rex on April 17, 2003, at 20:15:35

I'm sorry too. It seems like Lou tried harder than anyone to be civil according to Bob. I really think he was trying to be playful with the names not trying to offend anyone. And the second PBC which led to that long long block was his attempt to clarify his first post not a second offense. Lou always honors his blocks too unlike some people who just reregister. And he never tries to "get back " at people who have insulted him. It just seems so disproportionate when another poster gets 2 PBCs in a row and doesn't even get blocked! I don't want to see anyone blocked. I just wish Bob would come up with another way to do this. Like closing the thread or giving the "Don't post to me " rule a trial. I didn't agree with Lou about some things but I always thought he treated me well. I told him once or twice I didn't want to clarify things or enter into a prolonged discussion of something and then I just didn't reply on that subject!Simple but effective. I think it would have been so much kinder if others had tried that too. I'm very very sad that he was blocked especially for this length of time.

I'm sorry you were unhappy that I went directly to admin before. I was thinking about how Lou would feel when he read that thread not about how you would feel. I probably should have just e-mailed Bob to look at the thread and not posted publicly. But with Bob's never delete anything policy, when somebody writes something that hurts someone else and no one says anything publicly it stays there forever with no objections. I would rather see things deleted but since they're not, I want to at least add a dissenting opinion. (And this is my statement that I think Lou was treated badly and did not deserve that long long block.)

> I am sorry L. has such a long block time, though.

Yes, I was surprised at how long it is--it does seem harsh.

If Lou had simply said, when I asked about the names, that he was having a joke, and it was all meant in jest, I wouldn't have been bothered. It was his insistance that they were all made up in his own head, and had no links to any posters here that really annoyed me.

He broke the rules.. Dr Bob asked him not to use those names, and he went ahead and used them again. Dr Bob states that your block is doubled each time you are blocked. Lou knew this before he continued to use those names. 16 weeks may be a long time, but he knew what he had coming.

I did not take kindly to be refferred to as Drippy. Maybe I'm overly sensitive, but Lou's continued attempt at innocence is what annoyed me most, like I said.
