Does anyone have any information or links regarding the mechanism behind the sedation that accompanies MAOI use for a lot of people?
Im assuming this is related to melatonin not being broken down as I have symptoms that remind me very much of the physical effect of the body getting ready for sleep. Heavy grogginess, low body temperature. Can only seem to sleep for 4 hours tops despite being so sleepy.
Doctor refuses to give me anything to help, even modafinil. I have resorted to desipramine on my own but am wondering if there is any means to inhibit melatonin? Maybe via cortisol (licorice root)?
This is the end of the thread.
