Amitriptyline anxiety = start up effects?

Posted by rovers95 on July 13, 2019, at 5:21:24

So yesterday I started amitriptyline 25mg for agitated/anxious depression. It made feel stoned and my anxiety/panic and feeling of dread worse, and I woke in the middle of the night; aside from that I slept quite deeply with no dreams.

Today I still feel a bit anxious/feeling of dread but I think my actual mood is better (could be placebo).

Is this a bad sign? Or what I've seen called 'start up effects'?

Ah okay so effects subside in days? Or weeks?

Yeah, I would increase amitriptyline in 10mg intervals (if possible). Some of the TCAs mechanisms can be rapid acting (M1, 5-ht2c antagonism).

tofranil-pm w/ other stuff...a week or 2. tofranil, generic, just with abilify...fewer start up effects, dropped after 1 month because of dry mouth and weight gain.

that's imipramine, of course. and...im not you, not your md, etc.
