Does anyone know how gradually the XR version of Lamictal releases the medication?
Also I'm taking a generic version and it made me wonder if generic versions of extended release medications had to release similarly to the brand. For example if the extended version of a brand drug releases gradually over 24 (and not say half at first and half 6hrs later) do generic versions have to follow that?
I asked for Lamictal XR to see if I could get around some terrible abdominal pain I was getting from the regular generic + lithium/marplan. I took myself off the regular for a month and a half but my mood got really bad and I started cycling.
So far the generic (Dr.Reddy who gets a bad rep for their immediate Lamictal) is helping immensly at only 25mg. Perhaps I've been suffering withdrawl but I'm hoping it works well as I titrate up....
Thanks for any input on XR and/or how closely generic extended drugs have to follow their brand counterparts.

In reply to Lamictal XR release schedule? Generic the same?, posted by PeterMartin on April 3, 2016, at 2:03:22
I'll be very interested in the response although I don't think it gets a lot of use. I get such bad headaches on it if I take too much during the day but insomnia if I take at night. I wonder if either would go away with XR.
Post your progress!
Best,
