I think that Dr. Insel did some good work as the director of the National Institute of Mental Health. Over the years, I've found the comments that Dr. Insel has made through the media and in his blog to be insightful and right on the money -- at least for the most part. I hope that Dr. Insel will find the work that he'll do for Google Life Sciences to be fulfilling, and I hope that his work will turn out to be beneficial for people with mental illnesses. I'm personally skeptical that Dr. Insel's ideas regarding moment-to-moment mental tracking will serve those of us with mental illnesses well, but I do hope that Dr. Insel's work at Google will ultimately help the scientific and medical communities better understand and treat mental illnesses.
