Does abilify at 5mg affect dopamine at all?

I was just wondering if anyone here knows if abilify at 5 mg has any effect on dopamine?

Last time I talked to my a nurse she said if I would ever go to 5 mg abilify I would not have a psychosis has bad as without meds... I dont know if this is true or not...

If I remember correctly, Abilify is surprisingly high potency. 10mgs is the usual minimum for antipsychotic effects, but it occupies a high % of D2 receptors at that dosage. At 30mgs, I think its over 95%. The D2 partial agonism is what keeps tics and twitches from popping up so much.

My former shrink told me that the doses for depression (below 10, apparently) tend to be activating and the higher doses more calming.

If you have a psychotic disorder, I would think you'd want at least 10mgs/day. But that's just going by what's FDA approved. Neuroleptics are tricky to dose, because some people need very little and some people need a whole lot.


So...yeah...that's about all I've got for you, lol.
