Quiets the mind from obsessive thoughts & ruminations. As I have what I wrote I do take valium. I jump to horrific conclusions if don't. And just worry worry worry all the time. Always ahead of myself in mind with the body lagging behind. Are you going to take it? Phillipa

Philipa,
I have been taking 2 mg of Valium at night for 8 years.
I want to increase it to 4 mg.

Are you sure 2mg of valium? As valium usually prescribed in doses of 5mg to much higher doses? If you are in the US valium doesn't come in 4mg tabs? Not thinking of Ativan or Xanax? And I didn't receive notification of your response? Phillipa

Phillipa,
I am in Israel where Valium comes in 2 mg
In its lowest dosage. I plan on taking two 2 mg
Tablets per night, for a total of 4 mg per day.
I'm even considering 5 mg.

As a general rule, benzodiazepines do not appear to be very effective for OCD. Occasional pts may respond though, at least for a while. If you suffer from other types of anxiety as well (particularly generalised anxiety), this may respond more to diazepam than the OCD.
