gabaergic medications

Although what I'm on now works (sort of), I remember feeling much better when I was taking zopiclone (specifically - feeling more normal).

Does anybody feel that the z-drugs actually help them (mood wise?)

Ambien made me in a better mood, not like getting up and looking at the brightsunshine but just relaxed and made me feel better.....I did weird things also on ambien.

Depakote is a gabageric medication, it dosnt work like the z drugs but it will help mood too....I think its valporic acid....more of mood stabilizers that enhances the mood.

I can't answer your question directly. Sorry.

What about attacking the problem from the other side of the equation? Have you tried an antiglutamatergic drug?

- lamotrigine
- minocycline
- memantine

You could actually take all of these drugs in combination. If you haven't tried lamotrigine, I think it makes senses to try that first. If magnesium makes you feel better, memantine might be worth a try. I've seen minocycline produce a rapid and robust therapeutic effect in TRD.

Good luck.
