Trileptal has been a great mood stabilizer, but I'm slightly depressed and unmotivated. I can't drop my dose of Trileptal down.
I've tried Geodon in the past as a mood stabilizer - which it did not work or! It was great for energy and motivation (things I'm lacking now), but it never acted like a mood stabilizer.
So, since I'm gaining weight and have no motivation for life, I'm wondering if a low dose of Geodon would help?
Are the side effects just too bad?
I've tried Lamictal, but it never made me stable and I actually gained weight (ate like a pig, also did this with Abilify).
So, I'm just not sure what to add.

Are you sure you want to add something? Maybe tweak the doses of meds you are on now? Phillipa

You're bipolar, right?
Bupropion (Welbutrin) would probably be the most suitable antidepresant for you (It has a low incidence of causing manic reactions)
That said, if geodon has worked for you in the past, it would make sense to try it again

Trileptal is the only med I'm on. Sometimes I might take a klonopin, but rarely.
Wellbutrin made me manic in the past, which is awful.
Not sure, maybe I will have to ask my doc about using Geodon as a boost in low doses.
Not sure what chemicals Geodon works on, but it hits something in my brain (even at 40mg) that seems to help motivation and depression.

>I'm slightly depressed and unmotivated
Trileptal can cause depression.
>I've tried Geodon in the past as a mood stabilizer
Geodon is not a mood stabilizer.
>I'm wondering if a low dose of Geodon would help?
As augmentation, yes. As a stand alone, no.
>Are the side effects just too bad?
Geodon can cause QT prolongation.
If you're trying to treat depression, an AD is the way to go.

My doc suggested Effexor XR 75mg?
