Hi, Kat here again...just a quick question: does anyone know how long it takes Nuvigil to take effect? My doc just put me on it today.
Thanks!

its effects take about an hour to meet its peak....some people is 30min I personally have to wait long periods for it work. You will just notice that your going to be more awake, somewhat mood elevated, caffeine without the jitters.
Good med...

But then, I'd been on Ritalin til I switched to Nuvigil, so maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges. I stopped Ritalin b/c it stopped working. So maybe it's just that if Ritalin does not work, Nuvigil's not gonna work either. Oh God, what am I gonna do...stimulants were the last resort, now I'm on absolutely nothing, with nothing left to try...don't know if I can face a life filled with abject despair if there's no hope. :(
anyways, thanks again,
Kat

you may want to switch to dextroamphetamine....its used in resistant cases. Maybe taking wellbutrin with it too...that would really give a dopamine boost...or strattera for noradrenaline, still strattera i've read bad effects from it.
the nuvigil is just more for awakeness, its not really considered a psychostimulant, its more like caffiene without the nervous nasty state. But still it can have a no response effect in resistant cases. Increase the dose to maybe 250-300mg and if it doesnt work then....ask to switch to dextroamphetamine.
This is the end of the thread.
