I am taking 600mg of Trileptal a day and it is really working for me. I don't get angry and fly off the handle. I am able to be rational and reasonable.
At first I was experiencing some depression when I first started it so my doc put me on a low dose of lithium to help the depression. It worked. But now I notice the lithium is making me agitated and irritable. Why is this happening?
The only thing I can figure is that maybe Trileptal and Lithium effect serotonin (which I am sensitive to). Is it possible that over time the Trileptal has increased my serotonin and the Lithium is now doing the same causing irritability?
I feel like it might be time to drop the Lithium due to it making me irritable.
What could be the cause of this?

I don't know but would like to. Have you considered lowering the lithium? Phillipa
