I consider a treatise of antidepressant efficacy to be ignorant when it does not take into consideration that the interindividual variabilities in depressive phenotypes yield differences in treatment responsiveness. If someone responds to Effexor but not Celexa, while another responds to Celexa but not Effexor, are these two drugs equally efficacious just because they get equal numbers of people better?
