Has anybody used Mirtazapine to treat their OCD?

It is used for OCD and, from what I've heard, can be effective. However, it wasn't a great drug for me and didn't really help my OCD (which is only fairly mild).

It aggravated my anxiety a lot, made me irritable, and made me gain weight. It's not a drug I would try again.

Ok these are just things I have seen. Someone else might see different.

This is a fairly useless med except for sleep. I honestly don't know how they tweeked the descriptions of numbers in the clinical trials to make it look so effective, but I just haven't seen that very often in the real world. Once in a while someone gets a real good effect on it but poopout seems to be worse than ssris.

It can be one of the best sleep meds at doses ranging between 1mg to 15mg.

It helped me a little bit in combination with prozac.

Most meds that help OCD block the reuotake of seretonin - mirtazepine doesnt, so it likely wouldnt be especialy useful for OCD.

It can be very efective for depression, panic disorder and generalised anxiety though, and for OCD with comorbid anxiety or depression you could take (for example) Zoloft in the morning and Remeron at bedtime.

Unfortunately the one time took 15mg for sleep and that was combined with benzos it did nothing. So after a month just stopped it noticed nothing. I was taking just the luvox 25mg at the time. Phillipa

Actually made mine worse and gave me sponge brain. I was desparate for sleep so I stayed on it. It is a bitch to cut down on and get off of that is for sure. I wouldn't ever take it again. Also made me stupid.
