Hello people
just trying to decide what is the best way to come off geoden ,i made it to 80mg twice a day my goal was to have it take care of the seroquel i was on. has anybody come of geoden and what can i expect. any feedback would be very helpfultx cee

Come off slowly over 2 weeks - get a script for the 20mg capsules, and use them to make small reductions in dose... 160mg/day is 8 capsules, so take 7 x 20mg a day for 2 days, then 6 x 20mg a day for 2 days, then 5 a day for 2 days etc, until you are down to 1 per day. If this is too quick a wothdrawl, make it 4 days between doseage reductions, be guided by your bodys reaction.
Having a few tablets of a benzodiazepine could help you ride through any rough patches, maybe ask your doctor for 10 tabs of 1mg Ativan for example, and take one if you feel bad.

cee - you`ve really got to talk to your doctor about this. It is probably not a good idea to try to do it on your own.
What about geodon is causing a problem for you?

Oh, i missed that - yes, under no circumstances come off it without your doctors approval and help - thats a ticket to the secured ward at the local hospital

thank you people for all the great feedback i will start to come off the geodon really slow.iam coming off geodon because it maid me feel really bad.we were trying to swap geodon for seroquel but it caused bad anxiety and was making my depression worse. again thanks

maybe antipsychotics just aren't for you. Depakote, lamictal, lithium, possibly keppra, trileptal, tegretol....you have other options.
