OK, I am no chemist so need a little help! I have been taking the superfruit supplement Mangosteen because I had read it would help with psoriasis. Today I was researching and discovered that mangosteen may block serotonin receptors. I have alot of depression (currently not being treated) so is it a bad idea to be blocking my serotonin receptors?? Thanks, greenwillow

There are many serotonin receptors. Which ones are being blocked.

No, mangosteen is a superfruit supplement. I read that it was helpful for psoriasis and it has seemed to help.

Unlikely to cause problems, in fact a few anti-depressants and other drugs with AD-like properties work by blocking seratonin receptors.

>Hmmm, that's interesting. OK, thanks Viper, I take you to mean I can probably continue with the mangosteen without likely contributions to my depression?
