Hi,
I am new to the board and look forward to meeting others to get support and give support. I am in the process of tapering off of long-term benzo use
(stable dose) because I feel I am oversedated in the mornings. Since I have been on benzos (since 2000) I have not had any appreciable REM sleep as diagnosed on 4 sleep studies and very well might be exacerbating my severe obstructive sleep apnea. My next goal is to get off Prestiq, followed by Adderral. This will be a work in progress. I have been diagnosed as Bipolar I and have been hospitalized 5 times within 18 months. I am currently stable on Lithium. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi, and Welcome to the board! I have never taken benzos or pristiq for a long time, but I'm sure you know, and others will tell you it can take a while to get off those drugs because of the withdrawal and discontinuation symptoms.

Welcome also. If bipolar are you attempting to just take lithium with all the hospitalizations. Was going off your meds what neccesitated the hospitalizations. Also is your doc aware of your plan? Phillipa

Hi, Welcome to Psycho Babble.Excellent idea to come off the benzos. Which one is it and what's your dosage?
So you did you plan to come off all these meds with your doctor? Is the plan just to take the Lithium?

Welcome to the Board! I understand about the benzos - I am iatrogenically hooked on them too - xanax but cut down from 3mg. to 1.5 now and hoping to reduce further down the line. It's tough but can be done very slowly. Keep us posted.
This is the end of the thread.
