Ok. I have a few questions about Lithium.
I am taking Lithium Carbonate (I guess it's generic). I take 300mg in the morning. But I notice that after I have my coffee and eat and take my Lithium I can get a little too hyper (it's not just the coffee).
Maybe I'm not taking enough? Or am I taking too much?
Also - I notice that I have again, but on water weight quickly with Lithium. I slosh when I walk!
I plan to start working out to burn off some of the energy Lithium gives me and maybe sweat off some of this water weight gain.
Any suggestions?
Should I take my Klonopin or Geodon with my Lithium so I don't get too hyper?
My husband got on to me today for getting snippy with a woman at Wal-mart!

I don't think it's that uncommon to get a bit hyped up on a lower dose of lithium since lower doses are used to treat depression.
I would give the 300 mg dose some time. It might be a good idea to split your Geodon dose in half and take it at night and in the morning. Same goes for klonopin. I still think you should give it some time before you do anything.
Working out is a great idea, just make sure you are hydrated and replenish your body with the right amount of salt.
One thing you can do for water retention is drinking more water, believe it or not. You should be drinking a little more water than usual on Lithium anyway.
So, is it just in the morning that you are hyped up and agitated?

Yea, in the morning after I take my 300mg of Lithium. That is my one and only daily dose.
I tend to get the opposite effect from most drugs -weird. So I think Lithium is acting like an antidepressant for me, which is great. But for antidepressant purposes, I could probably drop down to 150mg for depression and rely on the Geodon for my agitation?
I'm going to check with my doc and see what she thinks. Most docs don't believe that I can get by on such small doses and that I have the meds can give me the opposite effect.
Maybe my 40mg of Geodon and 150mg of Lithium in the morning would be better.
I don't know. I know I couldn't tolerate 450mg of Lithium. I started having terrible, painful legs cramps, so I had to drop back to 300mg.

Trying 150 may be a good idea, don't see why your pdoc wouldn't go for that. If 150 still has an AD effect but a more calming one, it may not be a bad idea to try taking 150 in the morning and 150 in the evening. Just a thought.
