lamical for main AD support

Anyone here doing this?

Does it help mood stability for (most likely) unipolar types?

Thanks.

FB I once took it for an adjunct for ad. It didn't give any wierd side effects. But only got to 50mg. Didn't make anxiety or sleep worse at all. I think it's a good med when it works well with your chemistry. Love Phillipa

Hi fb...

The only thing I can share with you regarding LAmictal was it caused me alot of memory loss and also caused me to have balence issues. I took 2 or 3 tumbles (broken nose and 2 root canals) and was so worried that I made an appt with a neurologist thinking i might have MS. He immediately told me to stop the Lamictal and that was the end of that.

All of the anticonvulsants can affect brain processing as that is why they work for seizures, but they can have those side effects that affect thought processing.

But I suppose for someone with mania it can be effective in slowing the racing thoughts, but not fo rsomeone with depressed or slowed thinking...

Thanks Stargazer. I'm less inclined now, to try lamictal. My memory has taken such a hit already. I was thinking it might be a way to address depression and the mood swings from ptsd--it is recommended for chronic ptsd. I'll keep nosing about.

Are you on an upswing? I hope so.

Holding steady on NArdil 45 and Lithium 900. I just read my med book advice on Lithium and I need to get my Li levels checked (should have been after the first dose, before the second, then 2-3 x/weeks), push fluids up to 2-3 liters a day, get lytes, BUN/Creatinine all to prevent kidney problems...it never ends. I got some very distressing personal news this week, so that is complicating my already complicated life right now. I can't get into the details but very upsetting, so needless to say, things are in a very tenuous place right now. Thanks for your thoughts and support for me, as we are so helpful to eachother, as no one really understands this fight we go through every day (lately).
