Did anyone here not respond to EMSAM/Selegiline, but responded to another MAOI afterwards?

I got up to 12mg Emsam and had no response, but I responded with complete remission to 30mg parnate.

Are you not responding? Forgive me if I'm tracking your threads incorrectly--I thought you just started. Best to you.

I went vaguely psychotic / mixed-mania/depression on the high dose of Emsam. 6 months later i stabilized on 80mg of Parnate -- it was also stimulating, but friendlier.

Hi floatingbridge,
I did just start (today is Day 5), but I'm already anticipating that I won't respond to it and am wondering if Nardil or Parnate might work better than EMSAM.

Not FB but why? Any side effects? And the med takes a while to work. I did so much want to try it as the delivery system bypasses so many internal organs hence to me med is safer. Phillipa

I've just tried so many medications, plus ECT and TMS. I'm pessimistic that anything will help, ever. The MAOIs are my last options.
No side effects, no changes.

I have heard a number of people who did not respond to one MAOI do very well on another. Natural as it is to worry, I think you have options. Good luck!

Hi,
I had a partial response to EMSAM 6mg, but it took more than 5 days. Maybe like 2 weeks. I experienced a few headaches in the beginning, but they went away.
I had to discontinue due to allergic reaction. Otherwise I probably would have tried the 9mg patch.

Maybe raise the dose in due time since the washout period has already happened.
Economist, did your pdoc give any estimation of when to expect results?

Did you ever have a psychoneurological evaluation? Neurological disorders can also cause the symptoms you described.
This is the end of the thread.
