Lexapro Dose increase - mental fatigue

Posted by vic80 on March 18, 2010, at 10:32:19

in the 8th week my lex was upped to 15 mg from the initial 10mg.
in the 10th week (2 days ago) it was upped to 20mg from 15mg.

Yesterday I felt restless and crazy whole day... in the night I took Lunesta 1mg and got up after 7 hours of sleep... with a horrible taste in the mouth....
the whole day I was feeling inner-restlessness and dysphoria... and suddenly in the evening I was mentally-tired to the point of not being able to read without much effort...

could an increase in dose of Lex cause this mental fatigue???? should I blame lunesta?

I just realised, having posted numerous times on the board of feeling mind-blanked on lex, could this be a result of the mental -fatigue side effect.... or is this depression?

Could it be cause you wore yourself out with anxiety that it made you extremly tired? Just a thought. Phillipa

If it was a bitter taste then it is from Lunesta. I don't think Lunesta is causing your tiredness because at the evening it is out of your system. The symptoms your are describing are most likely from the Lexapro increase. Wait and see if it gets better and/or call your doc.

A high dose of lexapro like 20mg will definately give you some mental fatigue as well as physical fatigue. Could you add something to the 10mg dose to avoid side affects? Are you taking lex for depression, anxiety, or both? You could add Wellbutrin for depression but some people have worse anxiety, you could also try adding a lower dose of Lithium or Lamictal for added help with depression. Really nothing wrong with using multiple meds at lower doses to avoid side effects...

p.s. bad taste in mouth is probably from the Lunesta...
