Hello everyone,
My psychiatrist had me try Vyvanse again for my energy/fatigue issues. The first day I took it I was up for about 21 hours. I continued to take it but then took benadryl at night to fall asleep. It gave me physical energy but sort of blunted my emotions. I had energy but no motivation to do anything.
I stopped taking it and now I've felt worse than I ever had before. My energy and fatigue is even worse, I'm very apathetic, I keep worrying about all the stuff I have to do but no longer have confidence in my ability to do them. I'm just overwhelmed and have no idea on what to do anymore. I've been on so many medications and I think the only ones that would work are available in Europe. Seriously getting scared...

what dosage do you take?
Vyvanse is d-amphetamine that is attached to l-lisine for an extened release in the blood stream. Low doses of amphetamine can cause depresssion because what it does is it slows down some sector's that are firing dopamine to calm it down. That's why it's given to children because they seem to have a rapid impulsive dopamine transmission. Also in severe cases anti-psychotics are used.
Higher dosage increase the firing of dopamine...but they tend to wear out the nueron terminals because of rapid stimulation and there's no break, or rest period. I took 140mg of Vyvanse for about 6 months and also there are people here who take it at that dose. Ask if you could switch to dexedrine...because it has a shorter duration periods with the same effect's
take care

I was taking 60mg and it kept me up all night and just made me feel 'weird' like I was outside my body. Months ago I took it at 70mg and I didn't have that affect but it did wear off after about a month and just made me more tired.
Right now I feel like complete whale sh*t. How long before my brain chemistry neutralizes to pre-Vyvanse?

In my experience the worst of stimulant withdrawl is over after 5-7 days. I've abused ritalin and adderall before and had to come off abruptly which usually led to a week or so of feeling like crap.
I agree w/ the above suggestion that maybe you should see if your pDoc will prescribe a more immediate stimulant - at least short term. If for nothing else to allow you to taper down and off amphetamines. Vyvanse is the longest lasting of the bunch.
Have you talked to your doc?

I was on Vyvanse months ago, 70mg, and it was great for a month. After that I built up a tolerance and it no longer worked and made me more tired.
My doctor wanted me to try it again and put me at 60mg and told me to take two if I experienced the tolerance issues again. The first day I took it I couldn't sleep all night. The next few days I just felt emotionally blunted. I have physical energy but no motivation so I told my doctor and stopped it cold turkey.
I never felt this way the first time I took it. And why do I have such weird side-effects this time? I never had this hellish withdrawal period before after taking stimulants. Other than Vyvanse, I was only on Concerta and Provigil/Nuvigil before. They all eventually made me tired or were unpredictable.
This is the end of the thread.
