Effexor and Lorazepam

Posted by mission7 on January 30, 2010, at 16:52:36

So, I was concerned that my Effexor was pooping out after 10+ years. I seemed pretty miserable as of late and wanted to add something to it. Along with the Effexor I take Lorazepam whenever my anxiety gets to me. Usually, a .5 mg.

I had an appt with my pDoc and she suggested I increase the amount of Lorazepam I take. Now I've been taking a 1mg pill twice a day-whether I feel like I need it or not. (AM and PM). I'm a few days into it and it feels pretty good.

Just wanted to share.

Thanks for sharing so now it's back to working again? If so that is great. Phillipa

So far so good. It's been about a week and I'm functioning better. The Loraz dose is still pretty small 1 mg twice a day.

I've always been leery of Loraz, because of the general addictive properties of benzos. My pDoc put my worries to ease, informing me that people with GAD usually don't develop addictions to benzos. We'll see, though.

That's usually because we have no desire to get high just relieve anxiety no more. Phillipa
