Hi Tepi
Unfortunately, I'm no chemist so I can't tell you it's exact mode of action. I know it works at the GABA sites in the brain as do benzos but I'm not sure as to what it actually does. Maybe a search on google and wikipedia may throw something up.
However, I can comment on my experiences of it as I've been taking it for around four months now for GAD and panic disorder. I have to say that I found it to be no miracle drug. It's not had a great effect on my anxiety but it has had a slightly noticeable one.
I started on 300mg per day - 150mg twice a day. People say that it produces a great effect the first few times you take it; however, all it did for me was make me feel a bit happy for around an hour or so - and that was basically it!
However, it did have a slower more gradual effect, which was to reduce the background anxiety, when I took the pregabalin everyday. Don't get me wrong, it's not a great effect - I'm still taking various other drugs for anxiety aswell - but there is a subtle effect, with me, that pregabalin seems to exert.
It seemed to take weeks rather than days for the effect to become noticeable. I'm now on 600mg per day as I seemed to have some of the anxiety return. Beware that tolerance is an issue with this drug so you need to watch out for it.
I have taken pregabalin with diazepam. It seemed to make the effects from the diazepam a little stronger.
Pregabalin is definitely worth a try if you can get it prescribed; however, be mindful that tolerance is a problem.

Tepi - can I ask why you don't find Nardil very exciting?? I've never took it but am considering it for panic disorder, GAD and depression.
Thanks

Hi jms
Thanks for sharing your experience with me
Im still off meds , having some bad moments
Honestly I dont know what to do , Im like trapped , dont wanna se more Doctors , dont wanna go more therapies
I dont know how to handle the situation.
Im getting old and some kind of frustration invades me , like an urge to really live

>Hey you can try Nardil , honestly is a very good drug for SA , GAD . It has been the best for me , not enough but the best out there
so if it did something good on me , I dont think why it cant do it on you , well you just need to try it. Just be careful a the beggining with dietary restrictions . I has been like 8 years on it and I just had once Hypertensive crisis wich ocurred in the first 4 months because I ate an spolied chicken , then everything was ok , I ate most of the prohibited food with no problem.what about lyrica + Nardil , maybe I can try it.
