> Obviously none will work for everyone. But if someone is wondering what the best meds for "anhedonia" are, those are top candidates standing somewhat higher than most any other reasonable treatments. Some of those actually aren't meds but I thought deserved to be listed as well since they can be quite effective.

> 1. It works on all the neurotransmitters equally, unlike most others which are unbalanced. And it doesn't just increase them at the synapse, but increases them globally.
> 2. It has a short-lived (several hours) stimulant mechanism.

> I didn't list dopamine agonists because they seem to be too problematic longterm for both physical and mental reasons. I didn't list Selegiline because everyone I have ever heard of it that was on it longer than a year got the same apathetic anhedonia thing that SSRIs commonly do. Despite their longterm problems and backfires, they do have short-term anti-anhedonia potential.

> Oh, almost forgot. Hardly ever heard of. Normally thought of for sex. But anti-anhedonia, yeah. Yohimbe bark. Very difficult one to manage though. Too much equals agitation, nervousness, insomnia. I combined crumbs of this years ago with my Prozac and it was like waking from the dead.

>I was wondering about the dopamine agonists like Mirapex or Requip. So far my doctor wants to try Modafinil for the severe anhedonia and see what happenes. Im off the wellbutrin because it did nothing for me and he says later on he may add mirapex later on to see if it helps.
I had told him the only thing that truly made me feel normal and functional were things from the amphetamine class like Adderall and dexedrine. However the crash from these meds can be unbearable and the addiction problems. Parnate might be an option, however I have tried other MAOI and they didn't work(selegiline, moclobermide, nardil) and the diet restrictions sucked. SO far I am only on the prozac now and will soon get my script for the modafinil at the pharmacy. Apparently modafinil has the pros that traditional stimulants have without the negative side effects and addiction problems. THat would be a God-send for me.

Peter that's the first I've ever seen of a previous thread starting a new one. It's good idea. I see where you're coming from. From what I've heard providgil it a good drug or med for focus but some take a day or two off a week to allow the med to maintain it's great effects for the user. I think some use 200mg a day. Again great idea for continuing a thread and getting it back on course. Phillipa

I don't think that you will get a lot of responses because you started the same thread on August 18th and a lot of people answered.
