SSRI's are prescribed for PMS patients to use 'as needed'. Apparently they do work for acute symptoms of PMS. Has anyone used an SSRI on an as needed basis for anything other than PMS?

Is there new prescribing info that they are to be taken PRN? I thought low doses were administered for 2 weeks prior to the start of menstruation.
