I know that I need to get a med bracelet now that I am on Nardil. What specifically does it need to say? I know there is a specific pain reliever that we are not supposed to get like if we are in an accident or something, but can't remember the name of it.
Any suggestions? I want something clear and precise so that the EMT doesn't screw up.
Thanks,
Courtney

Courtney think that you're on nardil. Now I don't know maois but think the med may be demerol. I'm sure someone will definitely correct if wrong. Good luck by the way. Phillipa

> CourtneyHi Courtney,
Phillipa is right. The most dangerous emergency pain killer in combo with Nardil is meperidine(Demerol-brand name-US). Some other narcotic pain killers are fine with MAOIs. I have had no problem with straight codeine. It is when they start adding things like pseudoephedrine that codeine becomes a problem. In general, if a pain reliever affects serotonin like meperidine, it will be a problem with MAOIs.As for your bracelet, I would suggest something like: "TAKING MAOI - NARDIL - NO MEPERIDINE"
Be Well,
Jedi
