So I'm currently on my fifth day of 15mg of Nardil a day. The company that supplies it is Link. As far as S/E's go: Day 1 and 2 brought dull yet persistent headaches in the sinus region. I occasionally do suffer from sinus headaches, yet it's the middle of summer here, and there were no related symptoms (nasal congestion, etc.) so I went to the hospital to have my blood pressure checked (despite my assurance to my pdoc that I wouldn't obsess over symptoms lol). Anyway, blood pressure was normal (I've been following the diet to the T), but there was evidence of nasal inflammation. The doc pointed out that headaches are a common initial side-effect, which I had assumed meant in relation to blood pressure, but nope - just plain ol' headaches, the realization of which put my mind at ease. Otherwise, mild anxiolytic effect; sleep's fine; but as far as hunger/weight gain - geez, people weren't kidding! I'm ravenous! Eating everything in sight! Am hoping this might ease up somewhat over time as my metabolism adjusts? I donno . . . has anyone had any success with chromium supplementation?
Holding in there,
G

Let me give you some diet tips. A tablespoon of olive oil helps control appetite. Before you eat meals try a tablespoon of metamucil in a large glass of water before eating. It will fill up your stomach. Continue drinking water after the metamucil as it grows in your stomach and fills you up.

That's pretty cool.

>If you do that before each meal you should loose weight. The metamucil traps a lot of the food and it gets flushed through your body.

>Thanks for the tips bulldog. I'm actually scheduled to see a dietitian tomorrow - per my mom's request - just to make sure I receive a comprehensive nutritional base within the MAOI diet restrictions. Are you on an MAOI at the moment? For me there's two components to the food S/E: Either I'll feel plainly ravenous, as I mentioned in my first post; or I'll get hypoglycemic-like symptoms (light-headedness, sugar cravings). One post I found mentioned the latter arises because Nardil disrupts the livers ability to synthesize glucose or something. Anyway, does metamucil just reduce the hunger? Or can it help with the sugar cravings as well?
Thanks,
G

5th day @ 30mg.
hunger has eased off slightly. unfortunately, blood sugar symptoms are worse; i regularly experience a crash each day around 5pm. upon informing my pdoc and then my GP, both said they can't see how phenelzine could be implicated, which is strange because pubmed returns at least 4 results on its potential effect on blood sugar levels. anyway, i went to have my glucose levels tested today just to ease my mind. otherwise, feel calmer, but just as foggy/lifeless/socially inept as before. wondering if i should try bump up my dose to 45mg at day 14 , given no side effects have been particularly debilitating so far
