Hello everybody
My mom talk with my old doctor and I told her to
ask him about me using my Nardil and adding and stimulant . I gave mom 3 suggestion to ask , Aderal , Provigil , Ritalin.
I told mom that very probably the doc was gonna tell her no .
TO make the stoy short , I just talk with mom
and the doc told her , that I should not take that
But by my sorprise he gave her a prescription
of Modafinil ( modiodal 200mg )isnt this an stimulant too? Im kind of sure it is
does this one work on GABA ?
Im taking Xanax (Tafil) so It would be like a figth between them dont you think?
how safe is Nardil with it?anybody has taken it in the past ? with or wihtout Nardil ?
can I become dependent to it ?
I know there must be bad histories , failures trials and many stuff, please avoid them just in this time, I dont wanna hear them in this moment .
( only if my life were in risk please)if you are kind , please tell me all you think that could help me in some way , not only my qestions...

Tep, I haven't taken modafinil but I have taken adrafinil, which is similar.
Modafinil might be helpful.
Or it might make you feel awful.I took adrafinil for a year, but I stopped eventually because it made me feel worse.....tense and screwed up.
Before that, it had been helpful for many months.

Hi Tepi, I was once on Provigil and Nardil and they worked well together. I have a very knowledgeable psychiatrist who would never under any circumstances prescribe a stimulant like Adderall or Ritilan with an MAOI. However he said that since Provigil method of action is unique, he said Proigil is not really contradicted for use with an MAOI because it does not really bind to the MAO process like the DA agonist stimulants (Adderall) would. I believe it is relatively safe to add Provigil and do not see why the doctor would say no. But as with all medications that do work with MAOI's just use caution and do blood pressure checks etc. I did not due well on Nardil itself because of the constipation and bloating that led to massive gains in weight. EMSAM and Provigil worked extremely well and lost the weight from the Nardil. Also I had huge improvements with atypical depression and Narcolepsy (even ADHD) with EMSAM + Provigil + Lamicatal combo. Actually I would worry about drinking too many energy drinks with an MAOI than adding Provigil (trust me, I learned that the hard way and so did the toilet) Hope that helps.

it generally increases energy and wakefullness, but doesn't have the same sort of action in the brain as traditional stimulants, maybe something about increasing glutamate in a few regions of the brain

It may help reduce fatigue from the xanax without blocking the anxiety-reducing effect. Often people need both stimulants and depressants, but one by itself means just lethargy or jitteryness, so they can work better in concert cancelling out each other's side effects.

i've taken adrafinil+parnate, i'd imagine its more helpful with nardil as that would be a drug that is more likely to cause fatigue. I found adrafinil help a bit when taken for a few days i notice i feel less disconnected from things.> can I become dependent to it ?

well people can become dependent on their orange juice, but it doesn't have the immediate mood boost like amphetamine, its not 'addictive' in that way. There isn't a withdrawal, although any drug which is helpful can cause one to psychologically miss it if you stop.-d/r

Yep, also with d/r 's response, you should not have to much to worry about. My Dr. just said to make sure you so blood pressure checks every so often and AVOID more than one energy drink a day-as that does seem to cause very increased blood pressure and constipation with MAOI. I am wondering if my weight gain from MAOI like Nardil (not selegiline) was due to constipation. (eww)-Jake

I also have problems with focusing , lets see if it can be helpful too
I have never heard of a person using an stimulant for a lot of time , they usually tend to leave them for some reasonthanks for taking your time in sharing your knowledge and experiences . I really appreciaty your wise responses
