Unfortunately experienced major regression into deep depression. Last fall I was extremely successful on a short course of EMSAM, approximately 4 months. I made the mistaske of thinking I was so over this battle I didn't need it. This time around I don't seem to be getting ANY response whatsoever and I have been on patch 24 hours since April and last week raised to 9mg but I cannot sleep with it, even with 15 mg of Ambien. Much more anxious this time, so up to 30 mg of Xanax XR.
Has anyone else had difficulty getting it to work a second time when previous response was excellent?

I would look to try Parnate next depending on your symptoms and previous responses to other drugs. Can you add any more details about your illness and its treatment history?

Scott:
I was frequent poster last winter (Dec., Jan., Feb.,) I had such an amzing response I changed my name to "former trx resistant".
My history is first episode of MDD @ age 48. SSRI's failed, wonderful response to Wellbutrin with dexidrine until I had multiple seizures after about 9 months on the drug. Effexor did nothing, then tried Cymbalta with little response and raised dosage to 90mg- again seizure. So I have been severely limited in taking anything stimulating.
Parnate was briefly considered but my Dr. was impressed by what I learned from this board about EMSAM. I was told parnate had many undesirable side effects. Hoping the EMSAM will kick in but so far nothing but headaches and insomonia. But I have reached crisis state in my life because basically haven't been able to function since April. Not working, severe financial problems etc, no friends or support system in place except for therapist I see which really hasn't helped.
Thanks for your inquiry.

You might want to look at Lamictal. It is a useful augmenter of both bipolar and unipolar treatment. Perhaps you can go back to Wellbutrin with an anticonvulsant on board. My doctor has had quite a bit of success combining Wellbutrin with Lamictal.
