I feel great off any antipsychotics

Posted by Sky Brite Line on May 14, 2008, at 0:14:28

I'm about this close to flushing abilify down the toilet. It made my days seem not "daily" not even livable. It made it gloomy today, i hated that "stabilized" but still felt unstable with anxiety attacks.

My brain has exessive energy right now, so im going to go to bed. But im telling you, im so glad i didnt take my antipsychotic this morning.

I feel back to life, back to reality.

Or maybe back to hypomania? Full blown mania? » Sky Brite Line

That's what it sounds like, to me. I think you might want to examine what it really is you're seeking. It sounds as though you want all the benefits of mania, without the downside -- and that's just not going to happen.

I admit I am concerned when you are resistant to any mood stabilizer, but actively seek medications prone to abuse. That sends up a big red flag to me. It may be something you would do well to examine more closely.

What will your new psychiatrist say regarding your discontinuation of Abilify after only a few days? I presume you have not yet informed him of this?

It's probably rebound from the mind-numbing effects of Abilify. You don't sound manic to me, just very glad to free of a restraining medication. As far as the benzo 'issue' is concerned, it seems to me that you're simply looking to continue with a medication regimen that has worked for you for many years. I've been in this position myself and it's very upsetting to have a doctor threatening to destabilize you like that. I understand your distress.

Didn't you say you were taking the depakote that should stabalize your mood. Good luck. Phillipa

Racer,

I talked actaully to a pharmacist about "antipsychotics" in general and how they make me feel, they make me feel awful. And im not saying, that maybe i need. Abilify is just not for me, Lithium may be conisered next.

I can't get things done! or think im getting them done on any antipsychotic!! my brain does go very slow in the mornings, by mid day its running, and about 5pm its going fast. What i thought, maybe Trileptal, or Tegertrol for all this electrical activity. Not something to block "out" life, or thoughts.

Thanks, and im....if you ever thought, i take .5mg of xanax during the day. It works, but it depends if im having a panic attack, then i have to take 2mg. I never know when its going to hit, it depends on my thought pattern, if its irratic, or spiriling off out of control.

Thanks,

Sky Line

Most people feel subjectively better when they are off of antipsychotics. I'm not surprised.
